News Letter August 2004
With crisp blue skies and warm winter days it has been perfect weather at Dusty Hill to sit back and enjoy one of our platter lunches and taste some of the newly released wines. One of the great benefits of living in Queensland is the gorgeous winter weather and it seems many of the friends of Dusty Hill have taken full advantage recently to come out and relax in the vineyard or getaway to the lakeside cottage for a couple of nights.
Our Mid Winters Night Banquet in July was a huge success (it was fully booked out a couple of months before it was held!) and we loved catching up with everyone around the bonfires and over the huge platters of food. The kitchen was a mad house a couple of days before with Margaretha, Joe and Molly doing the cooking for the feast and Frank sourcing all the produce. It was great to see so many of our friends drinking, eating and dancing into the small hours. There were a few sore heads the next morning and some bleary eyes at breakfast, but the most common word used to describe the night was "sensational". This will certainly become an annual event and many who came have already booked in for next years.
Our events this year have proved to be very popular and we are thrilled that so many of our regular guests are so keen to come out and have some fun, drink great wine and indulge in some magnificent food. So next year we are doing more! Further in this newsletter you will see a full events calendar for next year. There will be the same functions as we did this year including the Vintage Dinner in April and the Mid Winters Night Banquet again in June. We are also having some music over the Easter weekend along with great wine and food. A Mediterranean Spread will take place in July with a great selection of gourmet foods pizza, pasta, gnocchi, sardines and much more. We will also hold the annual Dusty Day Out in October, a whole afternoon and night of great wines, food and some groovy music, with breakfast for those who front up the next morning. We have found this year that the events tend to book out quickly and we always let our members know about upcoming events first. So if you are interested in coming out to Dusty Hill then it's a good idea to book early. We are also proud to announce that Daisy and Billy, the resident cattle dogs at Dusty Hill, are parents to a new litter of puppies. The litter of three girls and three boys are gorgeous pure bred cattle dogs and Margaretha has promised that guests will receive a free puppy with every carton of wine sold!
Later in the year towards the festive season, Dusty Hill will again be hosting Christmas parties at the vineyard. Whilst we usually have a strict "no bus" policy at Dusty Hill to keep the vineyard and cellar door experience small and personalised, we happily make an exception for Dusty Hill members who may like to bring a group of their friends or staff out to the vineyard for a celebration. Available at lunch or dinner are Margaretha's platters which make for a great way to share a meal with friends (only $25 lunch, $30 dinner per person including the picker's platters, dessert and real coffee).
We are also finding many of our guests are purchasing
gift vouchers from us, either for our wines, the cottage, lunch at
Molly's and also for our upcoming events. These are a great idea
for the person who has everything, to say thank you to some one special
or to celebrate an occasion. So if you are looking for a unique gift
idea, please give us a call and we can arrange one for you. We also
offer all our members free freight on all of our wines (dozen lots)
and many members find this is an easy way to purchase some great
wines, delivered free to your doorstep, for restocking of the cellar
or upcoming parties.

Dusty Hill 2005 Events
17th and 18th April - Sneak preview
of wines and Vintage Dinner.
Pre release tasting of 2004 reds out of barrel, 2005 whites out of tank and
of course the fortifieds with wine maker Stuart Pierce, intimate vintage dinner
with the Prendergasts and lazy Sunday breakfast. Tickets include wine tasting
with the wine maker, transport to and from local accommodation, all wine and
food at the dinner and breakfast on the Sunday. Limited to 40 people. $135
per person. $120 for Members. Bookings taken from six weeks prior to this event.

25th April - Anzac Day
Last Weekend in May, Saturday 28th May - Buderim tasting for all members. Starting at 10am and going until 4 pm a full day of tasting the new release wines and dining on Joe and Molly's sensational food. Complimentary, for members only. Last Weekend in June, 25th and 26th June - Mid Winters Night Banquet at Dusty Hill. Celebration of the winter solstice with a feast at Dusty Hill. Tickets include feast food, wine, entertainment, transport to and from local accommodation and breakfast the next morning. Limited to 60 people. $135 per person. $120 for Members. Last Weekend in July, 30th and 31st July - Mediterranean Spread. A Mediterranean dining experience with a great selection of gourmet food, pizza, pasta, gnocchi, sardines and much more. Dusty Day out is $140 per person (Members $125) and includes all wine for
the afternoon and night, all food, transport to and from local accommodation

October, November and December - Christmas
Parties and Celebrations for Members.

Hill's Christmas Party at Milford Lodge, Buderim
Jazz on the lawn from Noon until Dusk. All the prawns you can eat and wine
